About BHECO

Better Health Care Organization (BHECO) is nonprofit and non-sectarian Humanitarian and Development Organization incorporated in South Sudan in 2015 with South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) with registration Number 640.

BHECO is formed by young and dynamic Humanitarian and development professionals who volunteered to contribute enormously to address the needs of the vulnerable people. BHECO thrives in forming a local partnership and collaboration with the local communities, governments, Donors in humanitarian and development for sustainable Development.

BHECO is working closely with the national and state ministries, County authorities to support Rural and urban poor communities across the Country to address the real needs and build Local community to jointly identify and address the underlying causes of poor humanitarian and development services to steer change.

We Are
Our Story

Since inception, BHECO has successful implemented projects in cooperation with the locals, other international partners and Government entity. These projects benefited a large number of the most vulnerable communities in South Sudan. It created credibility, good-track- record, close collaboration with the all stakeholders; local authorities, communities and donors.

BHECO strategic program focus on 8 areas of: 1) Health, 2) Nutrition, 3) Food Security and Livelihood, 4) Protection, 5) Gender Based Violence(GBV),6) Water and Sanitations (WATSAN) and 7) Psychosocial and 8) Community Centered Innovation and Research and Development.

BHECO put emphasis on local capacity resilience, strengthening hazard mapping and risk analysis and development of multi-pronged approaches at all level of interventions.

Governance

The following are the overview of the governance measures in place for the organization.

Vision and Goals

BHECO Board of Director vision is to govern and oversee the organization’s operations. This includes setting the organization’s mission, strategy, and goals, and ensuring that the organization operates in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

Roles and responsibilities of Members

BHECO board of Director play a major role and responsivities in the growth of the organization in the following ways:

    • Establishing policies: BHECO Board members draft policies and protocols for smooth functioning of the organization. These policies ARE human resource management, Finance, child protection, Safe guarding, communication, fundraising, administration and procurement etc. To date BHECO board of Director ensured that all the essential polies and procedures are in place
    • Hiring the Executive director: The responsibility of hiring the executive officer lies completely in the hands of the BHECO board members. The board members develop the ToRs for the position of the executive director and then accordingly identify the right candidate for the job.
    • Financial health of the organization: The board is responsible for ensuring that the BHECO utilizes the funds judiciously and remains financially secure. BHECO Board members develop a comprehensive financial policy to achieve accountability and transparency within the organization system.
    • Annual budget and annual work-plan: Our Board of Director members are responsible for the development and approval of budget on an annual basis. Based on the approved budget, with the support of the management team, a work-plan is drafted to carry out various activities as per the budget.
    • BHECO representation and assisting in building brand recognition: BHECO Board members are the face of the organization. BHECO board of director members are tasked with the responsibilities of representing and promoting the BHECO in various events and functions.
    • Determine, Monitor, and Strengthen the Organization’s Programs and Services: BHECO Board members supports, monitors determine and strengthen the ongoing program of BHECO IN South Sudan The BHECO Board director help to decide what portion will be for program and services, determine what is working and also areas for improvement. BHECO board of director members work with   the Executive Director to develop a way to measure the success of your programs and participants’ satisfaction with their experience.

Supporting the Executive Director and Assessing the Performance: BHECO Board of Director members are responsible for providing an annual performance evaluation for the Executive Director. The BHECO Board created a clear process for conducting this evaluation and identifying specific Board members to carry out the evaluation on behalf of the entire Board.

    2. Senior Management Team: Responsible for planning, technical management, implementation, and program direction.
    3. Program Implementers: Manage day-to-day activities, implementation, and accountability at the field level.
    4. Executive Director and Staff: Oversee daily decisions, activities, and management.
